The Grey Headed Kite says goodbye!

It has been an amazing last few months! We rescued a beautiful grey headed kite in February and it has been a joy to watch him take flight once more, 5 months later.

At first he was very shy when we found him scared and injured while drowning in the waters of the Yanayacu Pucate River.

In the meantime, we nursed him back to health by feeding him pieces of red meat and raw fish. He loved it! One of our staff members, Rambo, was in charge of taking care of the kite, and they formed a very close bond together.

Yesterday, however, Rambo reached out to feed him and the kite flew away! He crossed over the Marañon River and we all said goodbye to our old friend. We were happy to see him return to his natural jungle home, but we also miss him!
